Surf for More MathCHAPTER 11: 2-D AND 3-D GEOMETRYLesson 1: Veritcal and Horizontal Lines and FacesUse these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about 2-D and 3-D Geometry. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs. Goal Builds Upon
Instructions for Use 3-D Solids allows students to manipulate 3-D shapes and find out how many edges, vertices, and faces they have. Click on either “Prisms” or “Pyramids” and then click on a shape you wish you see. Determine how many edges, vertices, and faces there are. Place the shape in one position: How many edges are horizontal in this position? How many are vertical? How many faces are horizontal? How many are vertical?
Geometric Solids allows students to learn about various geometric solids and their properties. Manipulate and color each shape to explore the number of faces, edges, and vertices. Click “New Shape” to get another shape. For each shape determine which faces and which edges are vertical and which are horizontal.
