CHAPTER 11: 2-D AND 3-D GEOMETRY

Lesson 2: Parallel, Intersecting, and Perpendicular Lines and Faces

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about 2-D and 3-D Geometry. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Goal
Identify and draw parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines, edges, and faces.

Builds Upon
Student Book pages 370–373

Instructions for Use

3-D Solidsallows students to manipulate 3-D shapes and find out how many edges, vertices, and faces they have.

Click on either “Prisms” or “Pyramids” and then click on a shape you wish you see. Identify the parallel edges, parallel faces, perpendicular edges, and perpendicular faces for each shape.

Geometric Solids allows students to learn about various geometric solids and their properties.

Manipulate and color each shape to explore the number of faces, edges, and vertices. Click “New Shape” to get another shape. For each shape identify the parallel edges, parallel faces, perpendicular edges, and perpendicular faces.
