To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Communicate About Patterns, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for UseCyberchase is an interactive activity in which your child can continue pattern sequences by selecting colour, shape, and number in three-attribute patterns. To use Cyberchase, click the "Start" button. Then choose the next shape, number, and colour in the pattern sequence. Correct and incorrect answers receive feedback in a pop-up window. When the sequence has been correctly answered, your child can move on to the next question. The "Help" button offers assistance to your child in the form of a hint. There are three pattern problems in this application. Guess My Button helps your child sort and classify objects by describe of their patterns. To use Guess My Button, pick a question from the menu and click 'Submit'. Click on the boxes to the left in each button to eliminate the ones that have the attributes that are described in the pattern. Pick a new question and click 'Submit'. When only one button remains, click 'Found It' to see if you have the correct answer. |
