Instructions for UseFraction Model prompts your child to explain and manipulate fractions. To use Fraction Model, set the numerator and denominator sliders. Use the sliders to change the value of the fractions and observe the corresponding graphics. Use the pull-down menu to change the type of graphic to a rectangle, circle or set model. Have your child describe the parts of the whole. Fraction Pointer prompts your child to represent and explain fractions using drawing. To use Fraction Pointer, your child must first illustrate two fractions then find a third fraction between the two and illustrate it. The two shapes provided are connected to a point on the number line corresponding to one of the fractions. Click on the 'add' or 'subtraction sections' buttons to create a group of smaller sections within each shape. Then color a portion of the shape to match the given fraction. When both shapes are correctly divided and colored, a third box appears. Have your child divide and color the new shape to create a new fraction located between the other two. After all three boxes are correctly colored, have your child enter the value of the third fraction. |
